teacher and student with unhealthy pig lungs Pig lungs demonstrate effects of smoking
Students in Mrs. Paludi's health classes saw first-hand what smoking does to the lungs in a powerful presentation given by Laura Lacasse, a substance abuse instructor from the Lourdes ADEPT program. Lacasse visited the classes and brought two sets of pig lungs, one healthy and one damaged by the effects of smoking. The lungs were pumped full of air, and students were able to see how the pink, healthy lungs looked and performed much better than the black, unhealthy lungs. Click headline for photo gallery.
