INNOVATION EDUCATION INCUBATOR
Project Synopsis
The Henry Ford's Innovation Education Incubator (IEI), funded in part by Meritor Inc., tests new teaching and learning methods that we believe will change the American education system.
The IEI is a dynamic education R&D project that is designed to generate evidence that The Henry Ford's innovation curricula and learning processes are effective, compelling and inspiring.
The Henry Ford has developed paradigm-shifting, digital teaching and learning tools that will help schools nationwide provide 21 st
Century skills such as critical thinking and problem solving, collaboration, communication, creativity and innovation- the tools that students need to be successful in today's ever-changing workforce.
21 public school districts nationwide have been selected to test pilot this innovative educational tool, and Chenango Forks is proud to be one of only 6 schools outside of Michigan to have the opportunity to particpate.

Connections...
The real world runs on and thrives on connections.
Connections are how innovation, evolution, development actually happens.
We are going to make some connections in this lesson - looking for the connections between seemingly disparate concepts and individuals, theories and innovations, to see how everything, in one way or another, bumps into everything else.
Steve Jobs once said...
"A lot of people in our industry haven't had very diverse experiences. They don't have enough dots to connect, and they end up with very linear solutions, without a broad perspective on the problem. The broader one's understanding of the human experience, the better designs we will have." ~ Wired, February, 1996
To get you ready for this deep dive into the "Design Process" and creativity (or innovation) take a look at the following videos.
You know the desired end result - a piece of Science-Fiction illustration (specifically SteamPunk). Now ask yourself - what could these two videos possibly have to do with that?
If the FLASH version of the video above does not work, there is a Quicktime available as a link below...

Steve Wozniak on innovation... |

 |
 |
 |
Stephan "Woz" Wozniak was born August 11, 1950.
He is one of America's premiere computer engineer/programmers and innovators.
Wozniak founded Apple Computer with Steve Jobs and Ronald Wayne in 1976 (in a garage).
Wozniak created the Apple I computer and co-created the Apple II computer in the mid-1970s, which contributed significantly to the microcomputer revolution of that era, and helped create computing as we know it today.
Wozniak now runs his own company ( Wheels of Zeus ) and continues to be a leading innovator in the area of computing and technology.

" Edisonade" is a name created to describe old pulp stories based around a brilliant young inventor and his inventions, many of which would now be classified as science fiction. This sub-genre started in the Victorian and Edwardian eras and during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The term is named after famous inventor Thomas Edison.

Da Vinci actually created a robot during his lifetime (see link below). NASA's Robonaut is based in part on this design and some of Leonardo's other anatomical studies.
This is also why, in part, the DaVinic Surgical System is named after the legendary artist. |
