About Your Teacher

Hello!  I am your child's teacher and would like to tell you a little about my training/background/philosophy.  I have been teaching at Chenango Forks for a little over 10 years now.  While in this district I have taught Kindergarten, First Grade, Second Grade, Third Grade and now, Pre K.

Before coming to Chenango Forks I taught for over 10 years at Susquehanna Valley CSD.  There I taught Developmental Kindergarten, Second Grade and Third Grade.

Before going to SV I taught in a long term sub position for the Developmental Kindergarten program at Windsor CSD.

Before entering the NY State public school system I worked in New England as an Outdoor Education Leader for Nature's Classroom.  This was a fantastic school that hosted student groups from the Conn., NY, New Hamp., Vermot and Mass. areas for extended studies of Environmental Math and Sciences; grades K -12.

I have taught every grade level here at Chenango Forks EXCEPT 5th and 6th.

I hold an AS degree in Mental Health, a BS degree in Psychology, and a Master's Degree in Curriculum Construction as well as a NY State license to teach Nursery School through Sixth grade.

My strongest philosophy in teaching is that all children learn and develop in different ways using natural strengths and interests.  Some of us learn by seeing, others by hearing, most by doing.  Some of us learn in small parts while others do best with big picture relationships.  And ALL learning can and should be fun!  Schools should be filled with laughter and the happy sounds of discovery.

I strive to create a safe and caring environment where all of the children will feel safe not just physically but emotionally; thus allowing them to want to take chances and try new things.  To reach and grow. The most important aspect of a classroom is the creation of a Community.  The children and adults must respect and treat each other with kindness.  This extends to the family of each and every child.  The more we work as a team, the more your child will flourish.
