Superintendent of Schools
Greeting Chenango Forks Community,
I could not think of a more exciting time to be beginning my time as the superintendent of Chenango Forks! It is very encouraging to see students successfully transition back to in-person instruction. Seeing students active in sports, music and other extracurricular activities outside of the school day has been exhilarating. In the past few weeks we have been fortunate to celebrate homecoming with some festive elementary and secondary pep rallies. The Blue Devils spirit is certainly infectious, and the warm welcome I received at these events has certainly made me feel at home. More recently, seeing students in the hallways celebrating Halloween and other back to school events has been so fun for both our students and staff.
As we move forward together as an educational community, I am looking forward to working with all of our stakeholders to accomplish some important milestones including our continued progress towards our mission of providing, “a community where learners excel.” The community's feedback and support will be instrumental with setting future goals both immediate and long-term. Some of our more immediate goals include:
- Returning to a sense of normal in schools while also keeping students safe and adhering to county and state Department of Health guidance.
- Addressing learning loss of students and their social and emotional well-being.
- Upgrading and updating the facilities in our buildings to provide the best opportunities for our students and community.
- Accomplish all of this while being fiscally responsible to ensure that our district will be successful for years to come.
I want to thank the Board of Education and Community again for this opportunity and for welcoming me with open arms to this amazing community. I already feel at home in Forks Nation and I am very optimistic about our future. Thank you for supporting our students and programs.
-Go Blue Devils!
Tom Burkhardt, Superintendent of Schools
