I am so excited to share that we have 5 middle school students (some are in high school now) selected to be published in the summer 2014 edition of the Celebrating Art Journal. This art contest is very competitive and only accepts 25% of the entries submitted. These students will be published artists. You can click on the title to see their artwork.

The DaVinici Festival Student Art Show will be held at the Broome County Library and be hanging during the month of May. This display show cases the best artwork from local area schools.

Congratulations to Avery Copeland for having her clay tile, “Under the Sea,” selected as a High Merit piece in the Fall 2013 Celebrating Art Journal! Her piece is in the top 5% that they accept and will be featured in a special section in the book as well as on the Celebrating Art Facebook page. Avery is the first of my students to win this honor and great achievement.

I’m pleased to announce that two 6th graders from Art Club, Sydney Fendick and Ayden Daniels, have placed in the American Chemical Society National Chemistry Week Illustrated Poem Contest. Sydney won 1st place and her entry will be moving on to the national competition and Ayden won 2nd place. Both winners will be receiving a Barnes and Noble gift card and certificate for winning. The students wrote their own original poem about “Energy: Now and Forever!” and then illustrated to accompany their poem. Congratulations Sydney and Ayden!

Congratulations to Alex Dimatos for winning 2nd place in the National Chemistry Week Poster Contest sponsored by the American Chemical Society.

This year’s theme was Nanotechnology: The Smallest BIG Idea in Science. Students needed to write an original poem about the topic then illustrate.

Last spring I entered several middle school students artwork into the Celebrating Art Summer 2012 Contest. I am really excited to announce that we have several winners!
