CFE Attendance Clerk

Mrs. Rosko
648-7580, option 2

Regular attendance at school is a positive habit that should be established early in a child's school career.  If you transport your child to school, please have him/her here by 8:30 a.m. Students arriving after 8:50 a.m. are considered tardy.  Dismissal starts at 3 p.m., and all students should be picked up by 3:20 p.m. unless they are participating in after-school activities.

It is the parent/guardian's responsibility to notify the office by 8:30 a.m. on the morning of each absence by contacting the Attendance Clerk, Mrs. Rosko, at:  648-7580, option 2 or by email: [email protected]
In the event that you do not contact the attendance office, upon returning to school after an absence or tardiness, children will need a signed note from the parent/guardian stating the reason for the absence/tardiness. When writing the reason, it is helpful to state the specific illness, such as "sore throat" or "upset stomach". When a parent wishes to have a child excused from class for a health reason, (doctor or dentist appointment) or for any other reason, a written request signed by the parent must be presented prior to the child leaving the building.
Legal Absences
The Board of Education recognizes the following reasons for student absences as valid:
  1. Personal illness
  2. Illness or death in the family
  3. Religious observance
  4. Quarantine
  5. Required court appearances
  6. Attendance at health clinics or other medical visits
  7. Approved college visits
  8. Military obligations
  9. Absences approved in advance by the principal
  10. Other reasons that my be approved by the Commissioner of Educatio

Any other absence is considered unexcused. This would include excuses signed by the parent/guardian for reasons such as: shopping, vacations, oversleeping, skipping class, hunting, babysitting, haircuts, scouting events and sporting events not sanctioned by the NYSPHSAA.
