ACCOUNTING I - 40 weeks, 1 HS credit
Grade Levels: 10, 11, 12
A full-year course designed to develop occupational competencies in bookkeeping. This course is also recommended for students going on to post-secondary accounting. Course content encompasses the complete accounting cycle for proprietorship and partnership accounting. Students will learn the language of business, banking activities, purchasing and related forms and payroll. Computerized accounting will also be offered in order to enhance the student's perspective of accounting. A local exam is given. 

BIT 200 SPREADSHEETS WITH BUSINESS APPLICATION (College Level) -  20 weeks,1/2 HS credit, 3 SUNY Broome credits

Creation of spreadsheets, use of database functions and preparation of charts using functions and features appropriate for business documents. An Excellent course for anyone thinking about studying business in college. In addition, this course satisfies the BCA concentration requirement.
PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of Keyboarding

BIT 250 INTEGRATED MICROSOFT OFFICE (College Level) - 20 weeks, 1/2 HS credit, 3 SUNY Broome credits

Grade Levels: 10, 11, and 12
Integrated Microsoft Office will acquaint students with operating systems, word processing, database management, spreadsheet applications and preparation graphics. Students will prepare business documents by embedding and linking files.
PREREQUISITE: Successful completing of Keyboarding

BUSINESS & PERSONAL LAW - 40 weeks, 1 HS credit
Grade Levels: 10, 11, 12
Law as an evolutionary and democratic process. Topics include torts and criminal law, court structure, ethical issues in business, administrative law, law-of-contracts, legal principles of agency, employment rights, and an introduction to business organizations including partnerships.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP & MARKETING - 20 weeks, 1/2 HS credit
Grade Levels: 10, 11, 12
In this course, you will look at both the sports and entertainment industries to see how they work. You will research markets, plan campaigns and simulate promotions to see how these strategies affect the bottom line. You will learn how to research, develop and write a detailed business plan. Emphasis is placed on understanding the major sections of a business plan: Management and Organization Plan, Product/Service Plan, Marketing Plan and Financial Plan. In addition, the identification and evaluation of resources available for small business funding will be explored. Students will be required to develop and present a business plan.
PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of Intro to Entrepreneurship.

INTEGRATED PUBLIC SPEAKING  -  20 weeks, 1/2 HS credit
Grade Levels: 10, 11, 12
This one-semester course is designed to develop the delivery of oral presentations enhanced with technology. Students will work on projects that will be cross-curricular in format and will include the use of PowerPoint, printed material, mini movies and proper delivery. In general, speaking in public is inevitable; however, being able to capture an audience by being an effective public speaker is priceless. Whether a student is college bound or bound directly for the workforce, the skills acquired in this course will benefit them and give them the competitive edge everyone desires.

INTRO TO ENTREPRENEURSHIP (College Level)  -  20 weeks, 1/2 HS credit, 3 SUNY Broome credits*

Designed for students who are considering a new business venture. Emphasis is placed on exploring and identifying what entrepreneurship is, understanding the challenges of entrepreneurship, recognizing and analyzing business opportunities, start-up issues, marketing, management, capital acquisition, forms of business organization and other issues of relevance to the new entrepreneur.

KEYBOARDING WITH MICROSOFT WORD (College Level) - 20 weeks, 1/2 HS credit, 3 SUNY Broome credits*

This one semester course could be the most valuable course you will ever take. Development of basic keyboarding techniques and skill building activities in order to attain speed and accuracy in keying exact copy by touch for 5 minutes with a maximum of 5 errors. PREREQUISITE: None

QUANTATIVE BUSINESS METHODS (College Level) 20 weeks, 1/2 HS credit, 3 SUNY Broome credits

This course is a graduation requirement for students pursuing a five unit occupational sequence to replace their requirement for three years of foreign language for the Advanced Regents Diploma, and also a prerequisite for the STEAM program. This half-year course looks at what you need to do to be successful in life. Everyone will need to find a job, finance purchases, pay rent or a mortgage, pay utilities, and work with a budget. Students will learn these skills and practice them before doing it for real. Quantitative analysis of contemporary business problems. The course includes percentages, ratios, markup/markdown, cash and trade discounts. Simple and compound interest and insurance. Present value, future value, and annuities. An introduction to statistics and graphical analysis.

TELEVISION PRODUCTION (College Level)  -  40 weeks, 1 HS credit, 3 SUNY Broome credits
SUNY Broome: COM 130
This course is a year-long, project-based curriculum that develops career and communication skills in digital video production, using Premier Pro and iMovie. Students will become proficient operating the cameras, lighting equipment, iPads and other studio equipment. Students will write scripts, interpret and block scenes, and direct individual and team projects. Lectures will be spent reviewing material, readings, assignments and class projects. Labs will focus on hands-on production activities.

WORD PROCESSING (College Level) - 20 weeks, 1/2 HS credit, 3 SUNY Broome credits

Concentration of speed and accuracy development. Advanced word processing functions using professional word processing software.
