District Health Advisory Council (DHAC) The District Health Advisory Council (formerly known as the Safe and Drug Free Schools Advisory Council) continues the work of providing for the safe environment of our schools while taking on the task of implementing the District Wellness Policy adopted by the Board of Education in March, 2006. The Wellness Policy has benefits for the entire school community. It will help young people and families understand how they can have control over many conditions that affect their health. There are also many benefits for schools and teachers, including improved student achievement, lower absenteeism, reduced drop-out rates, and lower incidences of smoking and alcohol use. A healthier school climate will result in maximizing use of instructional and administrative time and staff role models to reinforce positive health messages through daily interactions with students. The district Wellness Policy is provided here for your information. If you would like to serve on the District Health Advisory Council, please contact the District Clerk at 607-648-7543.
