John Hillis has worked in the Chenango Forks Central School district since September 1995. He was hired as a social studies teacher in the high school and has also taught global studies, global history, geography, participation in government, psychology, sociology, international terrorism,and AP European History.

In July 2009 he became the Chenango Forks High School Assistant Principal and the following year he was named the Chenango Forks High School Principal.

Mr. Hillis holds a Bachelor of Science in secondary education with a concentrate in social studies from SUNY Oswego, a Master of Science in secondary education from Syracuse University, and a Certificate of Advanced Study in School and District Leadership from SUNY Cortland. Mr. Hillis is also a member of the State Association of Administrators of New York State.

Mr. Hillis has coached 24 seasons of varsity swimming and has advised several organizations while at Chenango Forks. He believes that a strong and balanced education involves participation in inter-scholastic athletics and extra-curricular activities. As a result, he regularly encourages students to get actively involved in the school community.
