Applying to College

common Icon Most Chenango Forks Seniors who are applying to four year schools use the Common Application.   It is an undergraduate college admission application that applicants may use to apply to any of more than 700 member colleges and universities.  Apply using the Common Application Here!

Paying for College

fafsa The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a form that must be prepared annually by current and prospective college students, it is used to determine their eligibility for student financial aid.  The application is made availiable October 1st of each year and seniors and their parents should complete it as soon as is possible after that date.   Each fall Chenango Forks High School is lucky enought to be part of the Trio Program sponsored by Binghamton Univeristy.  This program provides free financial aid assistance to seniors and their parents inorder to set up a meeting just come to the Student Services and Counseling Office.    For more information or to apply link to the website here!

NYS Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)

tap The New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) helps eligible New York residents pay tuition at approved schools in New York State. Depending on the academic year in which you begin study, an annual TAP award can be up to $5,165. NYS Excelsior Scholarship

nys exc TODAY NYS IS LEADING THE WAY TO COLLEGE AFFORDABILITY.   With the passage of the FY 2018 State Budget, New York is now home to the nation's first accessible college program - The Excelsior Scholarship.  Under this groundbreaking program, more than 940,000 middle-class families and individuals making up to $125,000 per year will qualify to attend college tuition-free at all CUNY and SUNY two- and four-year colleges in New York State. The new program began in the fall of 2017 and will be phased in over three years.

In order to apply, students must:

- Be residents of New York State
- Attend a SUNY or CUNY two- or four-year degree program
- Take 30 credits per calendar year (including January and Summer sessions)
- Plan to live and work in New York following graduation for the length of time they participate in the scholarship program

Senior Information

NCAA Clearinghouse

If you plan to participate in college athletics at either the Division I or Division II level you MUST file for initial eligibility with the NCAA Clearinghouse. This should be done as soon as possible. To register, go to www.ncaa.org

 
Transcript Release Form

A Transcript release form must filled out for each college you apply to. These forms are available the Guidance Office. You should complete this form at least two weeks before you would like the transcript to arrive at your college. Please see the guidance office secretary to get a copy today.


Selective Service

Attention all 17 and 18 year old male students: If you are not registered with Selective Service, you must do so within 30 days of turning 18.YOU MUST REGISTER.This is not a school requirement, it's the law. If you fail to register, it will affect your ability to receive Federal college loans and grants, and student aid in most states. In addition, it will affect your ability to receive job training or to gain citizenship if you are a male immigrant seeking U.S. citizenship. It will even curtail your opportunities to get many good jobs in the future. Go on-line at www.sss.gov
