Search in Process for Superintendent of Schools

The Chenango Forks Central School District Board of Education is seeking a highly qualified educational leader to fill the position of superintendent of schools. The search is currently being conducted, with the successful candidate taking office on or about Sept. 1, 2021.

The board has secured the services of Broome-Tioga BOCES District Superintendent Allen Buyck to serve as search consultant, which includes screening applicants and recommending qualified candidates for board consideration.

We will continue to post the latest updates to this page as the search progresses.

September 9 update: Two candidates identified as finalists

The Chenango Forks Central School District Board of Education today announced that the search for a new superintendent of schools is proceeding on schedule and that two candidates have been identified as finalists.

Having concluded a round of interviews with five semi-finalists last month, the board has narrowed the search to two outstanding finalists who are scheduled to visit our school over the next couple of weeks.

The district’s search consultant, Broome-Tioga BOCES District Superintendent Allen D. Buyck, is meeting with our stakeholder committees this week to offer tips and techniques regarding the conduct of professional interviews, which are scheduled for September 13 and 21.

A final selection is expected by the end of this month.

July 20 Update: Search on schedule for a final selection by the end of September

The Chenango Forks Central School District Board of Education today announced that the search for a new superintendent of schools is progressing well and is on schedule for a final selection by the end of September.

With the assistance of our search consultant, Broome-Tioga BOCES District Superintendent Allen D. Buyck, the board has narrowed a strong pool of applicants down to five top candidates.

The five semi-finalists will undergo an initial round of interviews in late August with the goal of identifying two finalists.

The finalists will then return for a series of interviews that will include participation by various stakeholder groups from within our district and community (teachers, parents, etc.).

The board will provide additional updates as progress continues and circumstances warrant.

June 4 Update: Search progressing to next phase

With the deadline for submitting applications now past, our search for a new superintendent moves into the next phase, which entails a screening process to be conducted by our hiring consultant, Broome-Tioga BOCES District Superintendent Allen Buyck.

During the next few weeks, Buyck will confirm the qualifications of each candidate, check their references, and then review the applicant pool with our board in preparation for deciding which candidates to include in the first round of formal interviews.

Meanwhile, the board is making arrangements to hire an interim superintendent to fill the void between the time our current superintendent leaves – June 30 – and when a new superintendent can begin – with a desire to be as close to the start of the 2021-2022 school year as possible.

The board is also contemplating the formation of various committees to assist in interviews with the finalists. These committees will consist of various stakeholders in the district, including staff, students and community residents. Anticipating final interviews to take place over the summer, we hope to establish these committees before the school year ends.

We will continue to post updates as events warrant.
