With the deadline for submitting applications now past, our search for a new superintendent moves into the next phase, which entails a screening process to be conducted by our hiring consultant, Broome-Tioga BOCES District Superintendent Allen Buyck.
During the next few weeks, Buyck will confirm the qualifications of each candidate, check their references, and then review the applicant pool with our board in preparation for deciding which candidates to include in the first round of formal interviews.
Meanwhile, the board is making arrangements to hire an interim superintendent to fill the void between the time our current superintendent leaves – June 30 – and when a new superintendent can begin – with a desire to be as close to the start of the 2021-2022 school year as possible.
The board is also contemplating the formation of various committees to assist in interviews with the finalists. These committees will consist of various stakeholders in the district, including staff, students and community residents. Anticipating final interviews to take place over the summer, we hope to establish these committees before the school year ends.
We will continue to post updates as events warrant.
