STEAM Academy Coordinator Mrs. Quaranta held a meeting to encourage
work-based learning opportunities for STEAM Academy students at local
businesses, industries and government agencies. Representatives from
Delta Engineering, Broome County, Raymond Corporation, SUNY Broome, were
among the participants. The Chenango Forks STEAM Academy is one of the
only work-based learning programs in Central New York that is certified
by the NYS Department of Education.

Students in Mr. Niemiec's Tech 8 class are learning Computer Aided Drawing (CAD) through the AutoDESK Inventor program and using a 3D printer to bring their designs to life. Rachel Molstead designed & printed a 3D butterfly. Elijah Shephard designed a tool to move oven racks. As an extracurricular project, Nathan Atwater learned about stereolithography and gcode, which is used in computer-aided manufacturing. He learned to operate the 3D printing software & printer to create a Lego MegaFigure. Click headline to see photos of the students' projects.
