Senior Lucas Scott signed his NLI at Chenango Forks’ high school stadium on May 20, 2021. He plans to play football at the United States Military Academy at West Point.
Lucas is a three-sport athlete and plays lacrosse, wrestling and football, with wrestling and football being his primary sports.
“As a wrestler, Lucas was one of the most accomplished athletes in school history,” Varsity Football Coach and Athletic Director David Hogan said. “And, coming from Chenango Forks, that says quite a bit.
Lucas is a three-time Section Four champion, a two-time New York State heavyweight finalist and in 2019 was a New York State Heavyweight Champion. In 2018, he was the New York State USA Wrestling Freestyle Heavyweight Champion and this year he was ranked in the Top 10 in Wrestling nationally.
“The thing I truly appreciate the most of Lucas is he was hard working as an English student for my wife Andrea, a good teammate and classmate to his son Logan and to many other students, staff and myself as the CF wrestling coach,” said Wrestling Coach Rick Gumble.
On the football field, Lucas is also one of the accomplished athletes in Chenango Forks History. He is a three-year Varsity starter, was a captain that lead the team to a New York State Championship in 2019, was the 2019 New York State Class B Football Player of the Year, the 2019 Press & Sun-Bulletin Athlete of the Year
and was on the Elite 24 Player of the Year Team.
Lucas also holds many records at Chenango Forks: He’s the season record holder in rush yards, total yards and in points scored. He’s also the second overall in career yardage.
He also excels in the classroom, and is ranked 24th in his class, has a weighted GPA of 96 and has been on high honor roll every semester of his high school career.
“So, obviously, you have a lot going for you,” Hogan said.
Congratulations, Lucas! You can watch a video from the signing below.
