Dear Chenango Forks Families,

It has been a wonderful start to the 2025–26 school year here in Forks Nation, and I am excited to share the first edition of our monthly Chenango Forks Newsletter. This communication is designed to keep you informed, connected, and engaged with the great work happening across our district, while also keeping you up to date on important upcoming events from each building and the district as a whole. Students and staff have begun the year with great energy and purpose, and we are so appreciative of the strong partnerships with families that help make this possible. One change we are especially proud of is our transition to a distraction-free environment by removing cell phones from classrooms and lunch periods. Already, staff are noticing a clear increase in focus during lessons and more authentic face-to face communication among students in hallways and cafeterias. It has certainly been louder in those spaces—but in the best way possible!
In this issue, you’ll find updates from each of our three building principals, who will share highlights and celebrations from their schools. At the district level, we continue to emphasize leadership development as a central part of the student experience. Activities such as The First 8 Days of School at CFE—rooted in “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” are helping students of all ages establish strong routines, build leadership capacity, and practice communication skills that will set them up for success throughout the year.
As we look ahead, our goal remains to ensure that every student has opportunities to grow academically, socially, and personally, and we are committed to living our vision: “A Community Where All Learners Grow and Excel!”
Thank you for your continued support of Forks Nation and for reinforcing at home the values of leadership, learning, and community that define who we are.
Sincerely,
Tom Burkhardt, Superintendent
