The Chenango Forks Central School District is thrilled to announce a significant financial boost, with the receipt of $475,220 in funding from the United States Bureau of Justice Assistance under the BJA FY 2023 Preventing School Violence initiative.

This substantial allocation, exceeding $400,000, has been earmarked to bolster safety measures within K–12 educational settings, ensuring a secure environment for students and staff. In response to this invaluable funding, the Chenango Forks Central School District has devised a comprehensive strategy aimed at enhancing safety, including the implementation of behavioral threat assessments and intervention teams, the integration of cutting-edge anonymous reporting technology, and the adoption of other proven school safety measures.

The notable initiatives to be undertaken by the Chenango Forks Central School District, thanks to this financial support, are as follows:

1. Integration of Leader in Me (LIM) Program - The Chenango Forks Central School District will
incorporate the Leader in Me (LIM) program into its District Wide Social Emotional Learning and Character Development Curriculum. This move emphasizes character development and
emotional intelligence, nurturing well-rounded students equipped for success.

2. Certification in Franklin Covey's 7 Habits - School personnel will undergo training and
certification in Franklin Covey's renowned "7 Habits of Highly Effective People." This initiative
aims to empower staff with essential skills that contribute to a positive and productive learning
environment.

3. Adoption of Navigate360 Technology - The district will embrace Navigate360 Technology, a comprehensive suite that includes a Threat Assessment Platform, Suicide Case Manager,
Emergency Management Suite, Site Mapping, and Detect Scanning capabilities. This
state-of-the-art technology will fortify the district's ability to identify and manage potential threats effectively.

4. Comprehensive Threat Assessment Team Training - To further bolster safety measures,
Chenango Forks Central School District will provide comprehensive training to its
multidisciplinary threat assessment team members. Utilizing Navigate360's Virtual Threat
Assessment Training, these teams will be well-versed in the STAG (Screen, Triangulate,
Assess, and Gauge) methodology, ensuring a proactive approach to potential threats.

5. Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training - Two district representatives will undergo training in
nonviolent crisis intervention, which includes advanced physical skills. This training is designed to equip staff with the skills needed to de-escalate potentially volatile situations safely and efficiently.

This generous funding from the United States Bureau of Justice Assistance underscores the
commitment of the Chenango Forks Central School District to maintaining a secure and
nurturing educational environment for its students and staff. By implementing these initiatives,
the district aims to enhance safety, character development, and preparedness for any potential challenges.
