Our high school students recently completed a variety of activities to recognize National French Week during the first week of November.

French IA and IB students spent the week learning facts about France and French culture. They began each class with a culture video and they participated in review games and trivia games to earn prizes. At the end of the week, Madame Dimatos gave a “how to make crêpes” demonstration, and students were able to distance themselves throughout the classroom to eat them!  For extra credit, they had the opportunity to make crêpes at home for their families.

The French II class learned about the regions of France. Madame Ramsden kicked off La Semaine du Français (French week) with a presentation on the regions of France and shared some stories about her visits to France. Madame Byrnes ended the week with a story about her experiences in the Côte d'Azur (French Riviera).

The French 2 and 3 classes participated in trivia activities and did research projects. French 2 students researched regions of France, and French 3 students researched Francophone (French-speaking countries). The students gathered many facts about French and Francophone areas.

The college-level French 4 and 5 classes worked on projects, which start with research on a cultural element of French or Francophone culture and culminate in a presentation and activity designed to teach elementary students about that element.  They will be presenting to their classmates this week (Nov. 22-23).
