The Fairwinds Woodwind Quintet performed yesterday at CFHS for an enthusiastic audience of our music students from grades 6-12. This group is composed of local professional musicians Nina Stutzman (flute), Kathleen Karlsen (oboe), Joanne Peters (clarinet), Martha Weber (bassoon), and Patti O’Connell (French horn). Our students were impressed with their performance, and had plenty of questions and observations to share in follow up sessions with our band directors. We are hoping to apply some of the lessons learned about balance, tone, and group performance immediately in our lessons and rehearsals! Our students were also very curious to learn more about the various instruments, both those onstage and others discussed by the players during their performance.
This performance was made possible by the Recording Industry's Music Performance Trust Fund in collaboration with the American Federation of Musicians and the Binghamton Philharmonic.
