Mr. Ramsden’s Robotics Club and Mr. Niemiec’s Robotics Class participated in the 12th Annual Suny Broome Robotics Competition. The competition challenged students to create custom built robots capable of completing various “real” life tasks facing “real” life robots! Students honed their mechanical engineering skills to create frames, drivetrains, and lifting mechanisms. Electrical engineering, coding, and computer science skills were integral to create the seamless interaction of sensors, microcontrollers, and electric motors. All of the students worked very hard on their robots and it showed in their performance! Highlights include a 2nd place finish in the King of the Ring Challenge by Mike Kelly (8th Grade), a 2nd place finish in the Autonomous Programming Challenge by Maya Padmanabhan (6th Grade), a 5th place finish by Tommy Hillis (11th Grade) in the Forklift Challenge, and a 5th place finish by Toby Neal (10th Grade) in the Large Swept Away Competition!
