alumnae

On Friday, September 26, Mr. Rosko’s Entrepreneurship class at Chenango Forks High School welcomed their first guest speakers of the year: Jordan O’Hern (Class of 2016) and Jensen O’Hern (Class of 2018). After over a decade working at Suzy Q’s Ice Cream in Hillcrest, the two alumnae purchased the business in May 2025.

They spoke to the students about their journey from employees to business owners, much of which has been a learning experience for the pair. They shared insight into buying an existing business, the hard work that goes in to owning a business, valuable lessons they have learned in their first season as owners and managing vendor relationships.

A key message they left with students: “Choose your hard,” stating that while it can be hard to be a business owner, it can also be deeply rewarding, and that as a business owner, “you will always be your best employee.”
