Alumna speaking to students

On Thursday, Dec. 11, Chenango Forks welcomed back alumna Daisy Dimatos, Class of ‘23, who will graduate from Binghamton University in May with a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Leadership and Consulting. During her presentation, Daisy shared how she applies leadership and communication skills at BU as both a student and campus leader. She discussed why leadership matters, what effective leadership looks like and how this encompasses influence, responsibility, and action. She emphasized key communication skills such as active listening, clear speaking and respectful problem-solving. Daisy also highlighted the importance of using leadership skills for advocacy and using one’s voice to create positive change. Daisy encouraged students to find ways that they can be leaders now, in their school, activities and at home, and how this involvement can impact their futures as leaders as they continue in their education and eventually in their adult lives.

Following the presentation, students participated in a group activity focused on “How can we encourage kindness in our school?” where they brainstormed ways to promote kindness and positive interactions throughout the school community.
