The Chenango Forks Central School District Board of Education today announced the official appointment of Thomas Burkhardt to serve as superintendent of schools.

The board’s unanimous vote at the regular Oct. 28 Board of Education Meeting concluded a several-months-long search to replace former Superintendent Lloyd Peck. Grayson Stevens has served as the district’s Interim Superintendent since July 1, 2021.
Mr. Burkhardt had been high school principal at Maine-Endwell Central School District since 2012. His career in education spans 22 years in a variety of capacities. He has a master’s degree in K-12 literacy, a bachelor’s in elementary education and certifications in educational administration.

“Mr. Burkhardt possesses a passion for student achievement and success on both an academic and personal level, as well as proven leadership skills that will be critical to guiding our district through the years ahead,” said CF Board President Amy O’Brien. “We believe he has the right combination of experience, skills and personal and professional integrity needed to move our district forward and ensure the success of our students.”

Throughout the search process, the board worked closely with search consultant Allen D. Buyck, district superintendent of Broome-Tioga BOCES, as well as representatives of several stakeholder groups.

Members of our community met Mr. Burkhardt during a reception in the Middle School prior to this evening's Board of Education Meeting. Mr. Burkhardt’s first day as Superintendent is Monday, Nov. 1. Please join us in welcoming him to the district!
