Nick McCabe signing NLI to play lacrosse at saint rose with a blue and yellow saint rose banner on table surrounded by family

Chenango Forks senior Nick McCabe was surrounded by friends and family at the High School Library as he signed his National Letter of Intent to play Division II Lacrosse at the College of Saint Rose on Nov. 30.

“Congratulations, Nick, for getting to this point,” said Lacrosse Coach David Pavlick. “Over the years, we’ve spent a lot of time together. Nick has put in an incredible amount of work in season and also off-season.”

Nick played four games before sustaining an injury last season, but during those four games he scored 26 points — a little over six points a game.

“Which is pretty impressive,” Pavlick said. “Which again, is a tribute to the work he’s put in over the years to get to the point where he’s recognized for this opportunity.”

Nick also plays for Gaffer Elite Lacrosse.

“They’ve done a phenomenal job with these young men and it shows, the hard work shows with these guys and all the work they’ve put in and what they’ve been able to accomplish,” Nick’s father Joe McCabe said of his son’s coaches. “So, thank you for providing that for our youth. Because I think that’s something that doesn’t get recognized all the time. So, thank you again for everything you do for our kids.”

Nick plans to major in Business Administration at the College of Saint Rose.

“Thank you to my friends and my coaches, it definitely wouldn’t have happened without you guys,” Nick said. “Coach, thank you for everything and throughout the years of coaching me and making me the player I am. And thank you to my friends.”
