Students from Ms. Collier's class went outside to pick up trash today for Earth Day! Afterwards, they took the time to graph the trash based on the material they're made of and discussed if it was biodegradable, recyclable, and how we can keep our school clean!

Our Second Graders participated in a Poetry Recitation this week! Each student chose and memorized one poem to recite in front of their class and the judges, Mr. Burkhardt, Mrs. Birch, and Mrs. Dvorsky. Each student was scored on expression, clarity, pace, and presentation. Scores were totaled and winners from each class were announced. There were also three overall winners.

In preparation for the Career Fair, our CFE students performed some career research in the library! The Kindergarteners, read 'Let’s Meet a Construction Worker' then worked together to build something of their choice using magna tiles – Some of the creations included schools, houses, apartment buildings, and castles!

CAREER DAY! Chenango Forks Elementary students were given the opportunity today to meet with businesses and companies located around the Southern Tier! Opportunities ranged from attorneys to police officers, HVAC engineers, and even positions that incorporate virtual reality!

The UPK registration deadline is Friday, March 24th at 3:00pm. Completed applications can be dropped of to the District Registrar at the High School or to the Main Office at CFE.
Kindergarten Registration is strongly recommended at this time, although there is no deadline, we encourage every family to sign their child up as soon as they can!

February might be over, but at CFE, we continue to celebrate Black History Month. Take a look at some of the projects our students have been working on to highlight icons of the Civil Rights Movement!
Last week, our elementary school students visited the historic schoolhouse on our campus! (We think many of them are grateful for the invention of heating in schools! LOL) a special thanks to the Chenango Town Historian!
Our 5th graders worked with students from Binghamton University to learn about this year’s American Chemical Society theme, “Fabulous Fibers.” Student we able work through four stations where they got to test fibers to determine if they absorbed or repelled water, observe the way in which various fabrics react to dye, determine how Velcro works, and test the heating and cooling properties of different fabrics using a thermal camera. This hands-on experience and partnership with Binghamton University was a great opportunity to introduce our students Chemistry concepts as well as future career opportunities.

HEALTHY HEARTS: On Thursday, students at CFE participated in group dances that they have been working hard to learn in their PE classes. They were able to showcase their dancing skills for their parents at Healthy Heart Night and helped raise money for the American Heart Association!

REMINDER: February is American Healthy Heart month. This is the time to build more awareness about the importance of maintaining a healthy life style.
We invite you to join us here at the Chenango Forks Elementary School for the 7th Annual Healthy Heart Night. The evening will include an array of dancing that is fun, challenging, and great for a healthy lifestyle.
We will be offering healthy snacks for the children and taking donations to contribute to the American Heart Association.
All proceeds will benefit the American Heart Association.
