Dear Chenango Forks Families,

As autumn arrives and the leaves begin to change, we look forward to the many seasonal traditions and activities that make this time of year so special across Forks Nation. One of the highlights for our district community is our annual Pumpkin Run at the end of October, which brings together students, families, and staff for a fun and healthy celebration of the season. We also want to extend our sincere thanks to all of our families who joined us for Open Houses at the Middle School, High School, and CFE. Your participation helps strengthen the important partnership between home and school, and it was wonderful to see such strong turnout.

In October our Character Education Focus is “Be Proactive,” drawn from “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People”. Students are learning how taking initiative and responsibility helps them become leaders in their own learning and relationships. Family Tip: At home, encourage your child to “Be Proactive” by planning ahead for the next school day—packing their backpack, choosing clothes, or setting goals for the week. Small steps build big leadership habits!

Our current capital project renovations continue to progress well, and it has been exciting to see the visible changes around our district. The decorative brickwork is taking shape at the new pool entrance, and sod and turf are being installed on the new fields—both of which will soon provide updated and welcoming spaces for our students and community. These improvements reflect our ongoing commitment to ensuring safe, functional, and beautiful facilities for learning, athletics, and community use.

Finally, please remember that our next Capital Project Referendum vote will be held on Wednesday, October 8 from 12 - 8 p.m. in the High School Auditorium. This project represents another important step in maintaining and enhancing our facilities through updates to heating and air conditioning systems, as well as ongoing improvements to plumbing and bathrooms. Thank you for staying engaged and for your continued support of Forks Nation as we work together to build “A Community Where All Learners Grow and Excel!” For the latest information on our capital improvements and future planning, please visit our website: www.cforks.org/page/capital-project.

Sincerely,

Tom Burkhardt, Superintendent
