Celebrating Our 2026 Retirees

Before we begin a new school year, we’d like to celebrate those who have made a lasting impact on the Chenango Forks community. Join us in recognizing our 2026 retirees and thanking them for their years of dedication and service.

Mrs. Lori Pourby has held several roles at Chenango Forks CSD, most recently serving as the district’s Assistant Superintendent. During her 34-year career in education, Mrs. Pourby has dedicated 31 years to Chenango Forks.

Mrs. Pourby has many positive memories from her time as an educator that she will take with her into retirement, and she states that she "will miss seeing the students, especially those that I have gotten to know through my daughter", but she is looking forward to the flexibility of being able to follow her own schedule during retirement.

She leaves the district with the following thought "Students come first and decisions made need to continue to focus on this. That is what we are all here for."

Pre-Kindergarten teacher Mrs. Yuhasse has been a beloved teacher at Chenango Forks for 33 of her 34 years as an educator. As she enters retirement, she is looking forward to extra precious time with her family, though she will greatly miss the wonderful students, families and her amazing co-workers.

As the school year came to a close, Mrs. Yuhasse expressed that she holds "gratitude for being a part of the educational community that I was also a graduate from."

For 35 years Mrs. Lisa Moody has been a constant presence at Chenango Forks, spending her entire teaching career as a third-grade teacher in our district.

After 35 years at Chenango Forks, she shared one of her greatest joys has been seeing former students grow up and later entrust her with teaching their own children. Having the opportunity to teach multiple generations of families has been incredibly special to Mrs. Moody and has made her proud to be an educator. Moments like those have reminded her how meaningful the relationships built in a school community can truly be.

As she retires, she is looking forward to spending more time with her family, but she will great miss her students and colleagues, and she is incredibly grateful for the friendships and memories created at CFE.

Mrs. Julie Young has worked as a high school special education/consult teacher for 31 years, spending 26 years at Chenango Forks. As she heads into to retirement, Mrs. Young noted that she feels very fortunate to have worked with such amazing educators over the past 31 years and that she will miss the students who always brightened her day and made her laugh.

In her role, she often felt proud to be an educator, especially during the moments when students would understand a concept that they had been struggling on. She felt those times when her student had that "I get it" moment were incredibly rewarding for both the student and herself.

Mrs. Young shared, "I would like to thank everyone that has been a part of my education journey over the past 31 years. Each one of you holds a special place in my heart!"

Chenango Forks High School teacher Mrs. Andrea Gumble, retired in the early part of the 2025-26 school year. Mrs. Gumble, an educator of 28 years, taught college English 12, honors English 11 and the Southern Tier Teachers’ Academy (STTA).

During her time in the classroom, Mrs. Gumble felt especially proud to be an educator when her students felt they were able to express themselves freely and confidently.

Mrs. Gumble is enjoying spending more time with her family in retirement, traveling and enjoying following her own schedule. She shared that she, "couldn’t have asked for a better place to work for all of these years!"

While not pictured or featured in this article, the district would like to congratulate Mr. Dan Palmer on his retirement. Thank you for your years of service to the Chenango Forks CSD.
