NEW ENERGY LAB: Last week our Board of Education was treated to a tour of our New Energy Lab and a presentation from BT BOCES! Our New Energy students and in structure have been a crucial part promoting this amazing program!
TAPPING FOR SAP: Mrs. Hantsch's Agriculture Class have been working hard actively tapping and monitoring Maple trees across our campus. They are collecting sap that will eventually be used for creating maple syrup!
NEW MURAL: Students at CFE made signs to welcome a small team of highschoolers to their building last week. The high schooler have begun the process of creating a beautiful mural highlighting the 7 Habits of in the entry way!
RISE AND SHINE: Thank you to Mrs. Slater for leading our Rise and Shine assembly today for our PreK-1st grade students. The focus of this assembly was to not judge a book by its cover. Mrs. Slater talked with students about not judging someone by the way they look, instead get to know people, and find out who they are on the inside. INTERSCHOLASTIC COMPETITION: Ten students from the Chenango Forks Middle School traveled to Tioga CSD for a regional interscholastic competition. The students answered trivia questions about Science, English, Social Studies, Math, and general knowledge. Both teams made it through the qualifying round, 12 teams placed in the top 6 in the head-to-head elimination bracket.

REMINDER: Today, February 9, 2024, is a Half Day! Our MS & HS students will dismiss at 11:00 am. and our CFE students will dismiss at 12:00 pm!
Global School Play Day is an annual holiday that promotes the importance of unstructured, regular play for children. It is observed every first Wednesday in February. Our friends at CFE had a wonderful time participating!
WORKSHOP: Interested in becoming a school board member? Broome Tioga School Board Association is hosting a workshop on how to do just that! RSBP with Erin McMullen in the District Office or Michelle Savory at BT BOCES!
COINS FOR KINDNESS: Chenango Forks will be participating in the “Super Cooper Coins for Kindness Fundraiser” this month. This is definitely going to be a chance for us all to practice habit #4- “Think win-win!”
For those who may not know, Cooper Busch, a 4-year-old from Chenango Bridge, lost his battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in May of 2018. Cooper’s family has kept his legacy alive by starting the organization “Super Cooper Saves the Day.” The organization helps other families that are or were impacted by childhood cancer. Every year, they look for ways to give back to local school districts to honor Cooper’s Legacy. They have had special events held and given gifts to the Chenango Forks’ Kindergarten Program over the past 3 years.
We are going to have collection containers throughout the district for coin collections to help support all the wonderful things this organization does for local families and children. We will be letting our families and community know through a blast email, social media, and the CFE students will receive a paper reminder about this fundraiser. The fundraiser will run from February 12th- 23rd. Each building will let you know where these containers will be located!
Each week there will be a different “theme” to encourage participation in this fundraiser.
Week 1- “Kindly Clean for Cooper,” students and families will be encouraged to “clean out” their cars, homes, couches…. Looking for loose change to donate.
Week 2- “Friends and Families,” collect loose change from friends and family to donate.
We will be having another “friendly” contest this year with CFE VS MS & HS to see which side of the campus raise the most money for the organization! The prize for the winners will be bragging rights and the intrinsic reward of knowing how they have helped children across Broome County!

AREA ALL STATE: Congratulations to our students who performed in the Senior High Area All State performances. These students had the opportunity to work with conductors and students across the state who share the same drive and passion for musical excellence!

CONGRATULATIONS: Students in Mrs. Laine's Science Olympiad team placed 6th overall in the regional competition in Ithaca this weekend! Our own Gabby Barry and Aspen Nabinger placed 3rd overall and won a bronze medal in the Robot Tour event!
